Year 10 Make Patchwork Quilts for Winter
Year 10 Textiles have completed their patchwork quilts in time to catch the end of Winter.
The class have been examining the properties and performance of textiles in class. After some careful research, they landed on cotton quilts with cotton bamboo blend wadding for a warm, sustainable, breathable, cost effective quilt.
The students carefully mapped out their quilts using block patterns before taking to the rotary cutters, quilting rulers and sewing machines to realise their patchwork dreams.
“The class really enjoyed the methodical nature of the work,” explains Textiles teacher Jess Wainwright, “It was great to see them take part in such a longstanding tradition.”
The class will continue to work on their capes for preschoolers in the coming weeks.
